Editing for the ‘Tricycle’ video was locked last summer and we’ve been anxiously trying to get the visual FX done. After trying a couple of individual VFX artists on a freelance basis, we came to realize that it definitely needed a team of artists. Thanks to the Academy of Art animation and visual FX department headed by FX supervisor Catherine Tate (check out her IMDB credits), the visuals for the video are being worked on as we speak. Brian Tasker (cinematographer/producer) has been working feverishly with this talented group to guide this project into the finish line. He’s been showing us FX dailies that simply rock, taking this video to the next level. As of right now, we’re looking at the video being done by Memorial Day (of this year).

With regards to the ‘Never Be the Same’ video, Andre Sanchez (cameraman/editor) labeled and broke the footage down into a storyboard edit which was about 19.00 minutes long. Then Brian Tasker came in and worked with Andre to trim it down again to a rough story cut which brought the video length to about 7.30 minutes. After looking at the density of the footage, story and the fact that the finished video will be about 6.30 mintues long, we decided to bring in a narrative editor (Dylan Cassard) which at this point is where the video is at. Brian and Andre will be working with Dylan to help facilitate the continuing push to get the video done. Once the picture is locked, we’ll color correct and the video will be finished.

Again, we can’t put into words the appreciation we have for everyone’s hard work on both videos. Also, we would like to thank you for your continuing patience and support.

On March 17th we lost Alex Chilton, the amazing songwriter and performer for Big Star & The Box Tops. We are huge fans of Big Star and especially of #1 Album and were saddened to hear of his unexpected death.

Back in the fall of 2009 the band added Chilton’s amazing song September Gurls to the set list rotation. We played it at our first show and a couple of other times live as well. Behind the scenes we would play it at almost every rehearsal (it’s still one of Andre’s favorite songs in the set).

Also in the cover song-vein of things; during rehearsal earlier in the month Dave started playing a Velvet Underground tune for fun. ‘Dre & I hadn’t played it before but we hopped in on it and soon we were all having a blast playing Lou Reed’s Femme Fatale.

(Please note that because these two songs were not written by the band we will only have them available to listen to for a limited time. We have discussed licensing with the Harry Fox Agency for more permanent distribution in the future.)

Socialized still has two more shows left this season. We are playing Thursday, April 8th at Maggie McGarry’s in the North Beach section of San Francisco and our last show will be at Kimos on Sunday May 2nd. After the Kimos show the band will work on getting our EP finished and write new songs for the album after that. Once the EP is finished we will be booking a lot more shows.

Currently there is no release date for the either the EP or the (wishfully thought about) album. As soon as we have an idea we will let you know here and through the usual channels.

We want to thank you again for all of your overwhelming support of the band and the music. We are looking forward to seeing all of you soon at the last few shows of the season.

Fresh off our barn burning show at the DNA Lounge this last weekend, the band’s dance card is quickly filling up. We are gearing up for our Valentines Day shows throughout February. We will kick off the Sugar Shack Love Fest on the Friday 12th and roll it on through to a do not miss show on Feb. 17th with veteran acts Deeper and The American Professionals. The American Professionals have just released their newest EP The Specialist and will be rocking some of the best power pop you’ve ever heard.  Deeper are one of the Bay Area’s favorite bands for a damn good reason. Killer riffs and a great stage presence will blow your mind. Be prepared on that night for some of the best music San Francisco has to offer.

As 2009 winds down, we want to wish you and yours a very Happy Holidays and thank you for a great 2009. We look forward to 2010 and have a big plans throughout the coming year. We will be playing more shows and releasing our EP next year. Along with new songs, recording, and touring outside of the Bay Area, we’re very excited about the next 12 months.

Socialized

We are going to miss our pals Dave & Matt from Disasters Of The Past. They are moving back to New Orleans at the end of this month. We want to wish them the best and send them off with style tonight.

We are also planing on showing the complete raw footage from the Never Be The Same video shoot this evening. That works out to be one hour’s worth of footage. We probably won’t be playing ‘Never Be The Same’ for the entire hour, but stop by and check it out!

Did I mention that it was free?

Thanks to Headslide and The Real for a great time at The El Rio last night. It was the first time we had played there and we had a great time hanging out with old friends and making new ones as well. It was great to see Michael Ritz again from the Never Be The Same video and I had a great time with the couple from Illinois before the set as well.

I also had a chance to work out my new bass at that show, too. I’m looking forward to getting a little more familiar with her in the coming years as well She’s a monster.

Don’t forget that the 1st Annual Socialized Christmas Craptacular continues on Friday the 18th at the Abbey Tavern at 9 PM. That show promises to be a hell of a lot of fun because we’re playing a neighborhood show and expecting all of our local friends and neighbors to drop by as we have our neighborhood Christmas party that night.

Also our dear friends Matt and Dave are leaving California and heading back to New Orleans after 5 years in San Francisco. We want to wish them a safe trip and wish them all the best that night as well. Be sure to come on by and don’t forget that it’s free!

A two night extravaganza, the 1st Annual Socialized Christmas Craptacular is a long standing Christmas tradition that your cool drunk uncle would have shown up to if only he knew about it back in the day.

Too much egg nog? Not a problem! There is no egg nog allowed at the Craptacular.

Too sober? Not a problem! Booze flows like a whiskey-polluted mountain stream at The Christmas Craptacular.

No woman? Not a problem! Women fall from the sky like drunken snowflakes at the Socialized Christmas Craptacular.

December 9th at El Rio will feature The Real, Headslide, & Socialized. There are no toys for the children because there are no children allowed. It’s a bar, people. Screw the mistletoe. Bring on the dancing girls!

December 18th at Abbey Tavern features trapeze artists and a drinking bear that wears a hat. Socialized will also be playing and there will be booze you can pay for and free walks home for all!

Don’t miss the festivities this year like you did last year. Don’t be the only one left out of the party! Grab your boots and that dopey hat that you like and join us for an evening of slack! We promise that your uncle will not be there.

Saturday November 7th we went downtown to the studio with the cinematographer, Brian Tasker for the video that will be shot in a few hours for our upcoming single Never Be The Same.

We toured the sets at Studio 100 and had a moment to goof around on set as well.

Our drummer André will be the cameraman for the entire shoot. As we write this, he is in the other room testing out the Arri SR3 that he will be lugging around for the next 5 days of shooting.

We will be updating our Facebook and Twitter pages throughout tomorrow’s shoot. Join us for the fun and good times as we try to help out and also stay the hell out of the way as well.
